The deadly Dead Machines duo of husband and wife John and Tovah Olson let rip with yet another salvo of brain-paralising electronic ugliness, pressed of a slab of sick pink vinyl. The Night Callers is a nightmarish work, with the Olsons creeping around in the rafters of some sonic spook house, rattling shutters and peeling back paintwork to shake spectral sound loose from its flaking fabric. A series of haunted hums, fractured thighbone flutings and disjointed electric guitar gyrations loom at the listener. On this pink horror, Dead Machines' musical vision of a Hershell Gordon Lewis-style grand guinol finally sounds fully formed.
